About Wendy Baker
I started dancing when I was 8 years old, attending weekly dance classes at the local Community Centre. Having obtained a good basic training I then moved on to take amateur medals tests and eventually in my late teenage years became an assistant dance teacher whilst studying for my professional qualifications. I have now been teaching Ballroom and Latin American dancing for the past 25 years. During this time I have gained a wealth of experience as a dance teacher of all ages, children to adult, from complete beginner through to high grade medallist including the training of a number of students to become fully qualified dance teachers. I have choreographed many individual routines for couples in preparation for their wedding day 'first dance' using a wide variety of dance styles and music.
I particularly enjoy teaching complete beginners and the satisfaction this brings of watching couples take their first steps around the dance floor.
I hold professional qualifications of the International Dance Teachers' Association (IDTA), where I am Fellow of the Ballroom and Latin American branches and a Licentiate of the Classical Sequence Branch. I am also qualified as a Licentiate in the Ballroom Branch of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD).
Dancing keeps you fit, is good fun and a great way of meeting new people. Come along and try a class, I am sure you will enjoy it!
